Adult Rape Clinic came together with the Zimbabwe Council of Churches to facilitate a Sexual Gender Based Violence Awareness and Prevention Workshop on Wednesday in Harare.

The event was part of the Youth Care Week Program which is an awareness raising and advocacy based initiative that seeks to promote the nation to take better care of its young people. The 2019 Youth Care Week was running under the theme “Build the Youth, Build the Future”.

Facilitators of the event included Priscilla Gwature from the Ministry of Women Affairs, Inspector Sengwe from the Victim Friendly Unit, Sr Donna Muteswa from ARC, Ellen Manyere from ARC and Floridah Mapeto also from ARC. The program consisted of 29 Pastors from different denominations Anglican, United Methodist Church, Salvation Army, Methodist, Presbyterian to name but a few.

The Church leaders expressed their views and concerns with regards to the law on rape issues and what was being done to address perpetrators who hide behind religion.
